Selmer is the Standard in Saxes
When I was a kid playing in student bands, Selmer was the one brand all of the other kids compared their Saxophones to. If you were one of the luck one or two kids with a Selmer, the rest of the kids knew assumed you were serious about playing the Saxophone.
The famous Selmer MK-VI is the Saxophone that really gave Selmer a leg-up on all of its competition. The MK-VI is the model in which all others are judged and compared. Quality and sound mean everything when it comes to saxophones.
You can find a good selection of the MK V6 on auction sales here, but be sure to check back frequently as they line-up changes daily. Also, keep your eyes out for the U.S Made professional series Selmer Saxophones; the AS-110 and TS100 Alto and Tenor Saxophones; both with good quality and sound.
Selmer is also one of the Saxophone Manufacturers who makes both a Sopranino and a Bass Saxophone. Check these sale pages often for great deals on these less popular Sax models.
Other models you'll find on sale here: The Super Action 80-Series II and Super Action 80-Series III Saxophones. The III-Series Alto saxophones by Selmer have an extra tone-hole opening for Middle C#. Keep your eyes out for the III-Series - the inventory changes about as fast as Charlie Parker moves through chord changes on Donna Lee. If you've ever seen a Charlie Parker Solo Transcription, you'll know what I mean about keeping on top of these Saxophone Auctions! :)
