The invention of the Saxophone goes back to around 1843. In terms of history, the Saxophone is a fairly new instrument, yet the past 167 years have seen many innovations and style changes.  Due to it's rich history since the 19th century, the Saxophone is considered a vintage collector's instrument.  Collectors and players, however, don't limit themselves to bidding on and buying vintage saxophones solely for the purpose of antique value. Some of the best playing saxophones are decades old.
